In addition to education qualifications, there are also essential employment criteria.

Employment criteria for human resources professionals

You must have worked for at least one year after gaining your qualification and your employment has to have been:

• at an appropriate skill level,
• undertaken in the last five years,
• working 20 hours or more per week, and
• highly relevant to the nominated occupation.

If your qualification is not in a highly relevant field, then you must have three years of post-qualification employment experience at an appropriate skill level, that has been:

• undertaken in the last five years,
• working 20 hours or more per week, and
• highly relevant to the nominated occupation.

This is reduced to two years if you hold an additional qualification that is, at a minimum, at AQF Diploma level in a highly relevant field.

What if I worked in HR before qualifying?

If your employment occurred before you completed your qualification, then you must have:

• five years of highly relevant employment experience in addition to
• at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.

It's important to note that in order to achieve a successful Skills Assessment outcome, you need a positive assessment for both qualifications and employment.
