VETASSESS and The Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to partner on assessment for health and safety professionals to support the current skills needs of the sector.
VETASSESS is Australia's largest skills assessment body supporting prospective skilled migrants and residents in various sectors including health and safety. VETASSESS will provide qualification assessments of overseas qualifications for health and safety professionals seeking certification with AIHS.
These include professionals such as Occupational Health and Safety Advisor and Safety Inspector, but also other roles in the OH&S field.
The partnership will also cover advocacy, promotion, migration skills criteria and collaboration.
New and existing members of AIHS in Australia who have completed a foreign qualification may apply for their foreign qualifications to be counted towards meeting the Institute's Occupational Health and Safety Certification Requirements.
Sarah Hemingway, Learning & Professional Development Manager AIHS said "The Australian Institute of Health and Safety look forward to welcoming skilled professionals and diverse perspectives to problems from around the world. We are excited to be working with VETASSESS on this initiative"
VETASSESS Executive Director Dr Mamta Chauhan said the partnership with the Institute gives VETASSESS access to expert advice from qualified and experienced professionals working in the industry.
